Clay Edwin Hickson
Clay Edwin Hickson, age 59, passed away peacefully at his home on July 7, 2020, due to complications from brain cancer. He was surrounded by members of his family at the time of his passing.
Clay was born on February 5, 1961, in Bryan, Texas. He lived most of his youth in Shiro, Texas. Clay served a two-year mission in Taiwan for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His time in Taiwan sparked a love of world cultures and eventually led to a vocation that regularly took him back and forth across the globe. He earned degrees from The George Washington University and Johns Hopkins University. Clay developed a career in international relations. Most recently, Clay worked as a senior executive for a non-profit organization committed to safe and ethical manufacturing around the world.
With his fluency in Mandarin Chinese and love of Chinese culture, Clay served as President and Chief Executive Officer for the Maryland-China Business Council in a volunteer capacity. Clay is a devoted Christian. He served in various volunteer positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Clay loved traveling and being in nature.
Clay is survived by his mother, Jacqueline Rhoton, his brother, Aaron Hickson, his sisters, Judith Miller and Sinead Fender, and his nieces and nephews.
